Playing on eclectic parallels and contrasts between the literary sense of the word ‘plot’ and Sharjah Biennial 10’s overarching themes, Manual for Treason is a guest-edited series of seven books commissioned by Sharjah Art Foundation. In this series, bilingual writers, translators, legal scholars, curators, art historians, critics, filmmakers, artists and theorists were invited to guest edit their version of the manual, as an eloquent suggestion of conspiracy, in one or more of the languages they possess in addition to English.

Winner of the winter 2010 Lori Ledis Curatorial Fellowship, Murtaza Vali is Contributing Editor at ArtAsiaPacific and writes for ArtRevie, Art India and Bidoun. Vali has also penned monographic essays on artists such as Bani Abidi, Siah Armajani, Emily Jacir and Reena Saini Kallat.
