The series aims to research and document contemporary drawing practices in Pakistan through artists and collaborating writers.
The four publications that make up this series are See View by Suleman Aqeel Khilji, Other Selves by Moeen Faruqi, Linear (Im)Possibilities by Yasser Vayani and Photographs and Drawings by Saba Khan.
About the Artists
Suleman Aqeel Khilji was born in Quetta and currently lives and works in Lahore. He is interested in the contradictions and similarities in visuals sourced from different ages. Through his work, Khilji intentionally blurs the lines between fact and fiction and documentation and imagination.
Moeen Faruqi is an artist and writer living in Karachi. His paintings have been exhibited widely within Pakistan and internationally, and his poems have been published in various literary journals in Pakistan and abroad.
Yasser Vayani has participated in various group exhibitions and was selected to create an installation at the Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary, in 2015. He also worked at Vasl Artists’ Association from 2015-2016.
Saba Khan is an Assistant Professor at the National College of Arts and is the Founder of Murree Museum Artists’ Residency, an artist-led initiative to support artists and writers.
