This publication accompanies the ‘Journey Beyond the Arrow’ platform that is part of Sharjah Biennial 14: ‘Leaving The Echo Chamber.’ The edition brings together commissions from artists, academics, thinkers and poets who explore the nature and occurrence of human mobility from the Global South with an emphasis on trans-regionalism around the Indian Ocean, decolonisation and interrogations of political authority. Essays included in the book propose differing points from which to analyse cause and effect in the writing and dissemination of myth and history.
About the Editor
Zoe Butt is a curator and writer based in Vietnam. Her curatorial practice centres on building critically-thinking and historically-conscious artistic communities and fostering dialogue among countries of the global south.

Located in Sharjah’s historic Art and Heritage Areas, Sharjah Art Foundation activities and events take place throughout the year and include exhibitions featuring the work of Arab and international artists, performances, music, film screenings and artist talks as well as extensive art education programmes for children, adults and families.
