The Time Is Out Of Joint’ is a multi-space project, and this two-volume publication is one of its manifestations that adopt spatial and temporal strategies inspired by the idea of time as a fluid space and space as frozen time.
Co-edited by Tarek Abou El Fetouh and Ala Younis, and with many texts translated to English or Arabic for the first time, this bilingual publication is structured in four chapters. These chapters are concepts extended from the contexts of three events that are re- or pre-enacted in an exhibition project that took place in Beirut, Sharjah and Gwangju.

Tarek Abou El Fetouh is an independent curator who has established innovative initiatives in the Arab world and has sought to develop conversations among practitioners both regionally and internationally.
As artist, researcher and curator, Ala Younis’ multifaceted practice has explored the formation of the modern Arab world and the potential for renewed thought and action the era continues to inspire.
About the Publisher
