Before refrigerators, clay vessels known as a ‘jarra’ were used to keep water cool. The water seeped through the walls and evaporated, leaving what’s inside cool and refreshing on a warm summer's day. Now, for food safety, ceramics need to be glazed, which compromises the natural cooling effect of ceramics.
Inspired by the form of traditional vessels and reinterpreting the jarra in a contemporary design that still cools while meeting safety standards, Twelve Degrees uses special glazing techniques that allow you to enjoy the refreshing taste of clay-cooled water.

Material: clay and food-safe aluminium
Designed in 2018
Weight: 0.1 kg
Awards: Red Dot Award winner, 2019; Good Design Award finalist, 2019; longlisted for the Dezeen Design Award, 2019

How to Use: keep the jarra under cool running water for one minute, then fill it with water. The jarra will actively cool your water for a few hours after these first two steps, allowing you to enjoy a cool fresh cup of water on the go.
