Keeping in mind the theme of production and process, each participating artist was asked to respond to a questionnaire about their work in the Biennial. The result is an amalgamation of notes, collages, annotations, sketches, maquettes, and ideas that would eventually, for most, become site-specific projects created in Sharjah.

This publication is the first in a two-book set that, together, aims to document the process of making and presenting site-specific work in the biennial context. Each artist was given seven pages of the catalogue to respond to the questionnaire and provide sketches, visuals, biographical information, and an installation view of their work.
