Sharjah Biennial 12 Catalogue: The past, the present, the possible
In these pages, Hoor Al Qasimi introduces the Biennial as a crucial platform for Sharjah’s past and future, followed by an essay from Eungie Joo contextualising the works selected for the Biennial. The introductory section includes essays by Kristine Khouri and Rasha Salti, who discuss their research on the 1978 International Art Exhibition for Palestine and its historical relations to Japan, and Maryam Kashani, who critically reflects on the lectures and discussions held during March Meeting 2014—the initial platform for the ideas explored in Sharjah Biennial 12. A reprint of Henri Lefebvre's The Right to the City is also featured in the publication and translated into Arabic for the first time.
