Born and raised in the UAE, Dina Fawakhiri left the advertising industry as Creative Director to one of Jordan’s most prominent agencies and with numerous awards to her name to pursue a freelance career as a children’s books illustrator, comic artist and Arabic calligrapher.

Al Salwa Publishing has been creating original Arabic children’s books since 1996, many of them award-winning and translated into several different languages.

Al Salwa, itself an award-winning independent publishing house, publishes books by various authors in the Arab world and for children of all ages. Various schools in the region have adopted Al Salwa’s books as part of their curriculums.
