My Sister Who Travels commemorates an exhibition curated by Martina Caruso, a group show that featured the work of six internationally acclaimed contemporary women artists: Noor Abed, Jananne Al-Ani, Halida Boughriet, Ursula Schulz-Dornburg, Corinne Silva, Esther Boise Van Deman, and Paola Yacoub. In her own way, each artist offers a challenge to the canonical representa­tions of landscape photography. Often straying from conventional tropes, the landscapes presented in this lush catalog articulate places of memory, conflict, colonisation, migration, emptiness, and expanse. The book, beautifully designed to look like a travel journal, also features biographies of the artists and an essay by the curator exploring the role of women in lens-based depictions of landscape.

Martina Caruso (born in 1978 in Brussels) is an art historian and writer, former Assistant Director for Art, Architecture and the Creative Industries at the British School at Rome. She has lectured in Art History and the History and Theory of Photography at the Courtauld Institute of Art, Camberwell College of Arts and London College of Communication.

The Mosaic Rooms are a London-based non-profit cultural organisation dedicated to supporting and promoting comtemporary culture from and about the Arab world through contemporary art exhibitions, multidisciplinary events, artist residencies and learning and engagement programme.

The A.M. Qattan Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit organisation founded in 1993 and registered in the UK as a charity. Its principle remit is the support of culture and education in and about Palestine and the Arab World.
